ED 501: Program Orientation

1. Our very first assignment was to complete the Edpuzzle. The main topic of the video was Orientation to the TeachNow program, that covered important information on values of Moreland University, on the possibility of moving to the Masters program (add-on) at any point while enrolled in a certification program or after graduating from it, about the academic integrity, attendance policy, assignment assessment policy, and contact information. Completing the puzzle helped me to direct my attention to important details and was a great way of acquainting with the university. The information that I have received is definitely useful and would help me as I progress through the program.
2. The program’s course catalogue and candidate handbook is the first resource I may use whenever I have a question, or if I’m encountering any issue while I’m progressing through the program. It contains valuable information about the program itself - it’s vision, mission, values, expectations and goals. Moreover, there I can find the details regarding the academic programs, procedures, requirements, policies related to clinical practice, etc.
3. The program curriculum is based on and designed around the ten InTask standards which, in addition to guiding candidates throughout the program, allow the mentors, and program instructor assess the candidates' performances in a holistic way. The standards include learner development, learning differences, learning environments, content knowledge, application of content, assessment, planning for instruction, instructional strategies, professional learning and ethical practice, leadership and collaboration. Both, the standards and the Clinical rubric (adaptation of the 10 InTask principles), would assist and navigate the candidates throughout the program, setting clear goals and expectations from them.
